The Aberdeen Business Professional Club takes your privacy seriously. This page explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
Who we are
The Aberdeen Business Professional Club is the data controller for any personal information collected through this website.
The club meets at The Marcliffe Hotel, North Deeside Road, Aberdeen, AB15 9YA.

What information we collect
The only personal information we collect through this website is what you give us in the contact form:
- First name
- Last name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Any message you choose to include
We do not run online accounts, take payments, or operate a mailing list through this website.
Why we collect it and our lawful basis
We use this information for one purpose only: to reply to your enquiry about membership, attending a lunch as a guest, or the club in general.
Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the contact form before submitting it. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us.
Where an enquiry leads to an ongoing conversation about membership, we may keep a record of it under our legitimate interests in administering the club’s membership.
Who sees your information
Enquiries are received by the committee members responsible for handling membership and guest enquiries. Nobody else in the club sees them as a matter of routine.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or pass it to any third party for marketing purposes.
Two service providers handle your information as part of delivering the enquiry to us:
- Krystal, our website hosting provider. Krystal is based in the United Kingdom, and its servers are located there.
- FormSubmit, which processes the contact form and forwards it to us by email. FormSubmit’s servers may be located outside the United Kingdom.
- AOL, which hosts the email account the enquiry is delivered to.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for 12 months and then delete them, unless the enquiry has led to membership or an ongoing discussion about membership, in which case we keep the relevant records for as long as that relationship continues. The committee reviews this annually.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything wrong
- Ask us to delete your information
- Ask us to restrict how we use it
- Object to us using it
- Ask for a copy of it in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time
To do any of these, email abpclub@aol.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
This website uses only the cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work. These are set by WordPress and Elementor, the software the site is built with, and they handle basic things like page loading and security.
We do not use:
- Analytics or visitor tracking cookies
- Advertising or remarketing cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Third-party fonts or scripts that track you
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, we are not required to ask for your consent before setting them, and you will not see a cookie banner on this site.
